Equipment Operator - Red Chris Mine - Two Week Rotations - Flights and Camp
Newmont is hiring an Equipment Operator for its Red Chris Mine in Northern British Columbia, situated near Iskut and Dease Lake on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. The position offers fly-in/fly-out access from locations across British Columbia and Alberta. The Red Chris Mine currently operates as an open-pit copper and gold mine, with plans to transition into an underground block cave operation. On-site accommodations include meals, recreational facilities, Wi-Fi, a gym, and counselling. The work rotation follows a two-weeks-in, two-weeks-out schedule, and both camp and flight arrangements are provided.

Responsibilities
The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of heavy equipment at Red Chris Mine.
- Operate various types of Excavators, Dozers, Graders, and Loaders safely and efficiently.
- Complete field-level hazard assessments (FLHAs) regularly.
- Conduct work area inspections before starting tasks.
- Use the digital fleet management system.
- Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections and maintain logbooks.
- Report unsafe conditions and incidents.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an open pit mine environment.
- Minimum 3 years operating heavy equipment in industrial settings.
- At least 500 hours of experience on three or more of the following: D10 Dozer, 16M or 24M Grader, PC2000 or 870 Excavator, 988 or 994 Loaders (experience on four preferred).
- Experience loading haul trucks with a 994 Loader (or equivalent) preferred.
- Familiarity with computerized grade control/project software is an asset.
- Class 5 driver's licence required.
