New Gold is hiring a Site Services Operator for its Rainy River Mine in Emo, Ontario, a residential gold and silver producing site near the Ontario-Minnesota border. This role operates on a 7/7 rotation with 12-hour day shifts. Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the operator is responsible for operating site mobile equipment, performing road and snow clearing, pipeline and pump maintenance, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance. The Site Services Operator is responsible for safe operation of mobile equipment and maintaining site infrastructure including snow and brush clearing.
- Conduct circle checks on equipment to verify mechanical and safety readiness.
- Clear doorways and staircases of snow using shovels and apply salt or sand as needed.
- Follow all workplace safety policies and report unsafe conditions promptly.
- Avoid distractions such as cellular phone use while operating equipment.
- Diagnose and identify equipment defects and perform minor maintenance tasks.
- Support the team by performing other duties ensuring safe and efficient site operations.
Requirements
Applicants must have experience operating heavy equipment and demonstrate leadership in safety and environmental management.
- Experience operating front end loaders or skid steer.
- Valid Class G Driver's License.
- Proven leadership and understanding of human behavior.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in safety and environmental management (e.g., spill response, erosion control).
- Strong desire to learn and take on increasing responsibilities.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to handle heavy machinery.
- Ability to read and understand instructions and signage.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
