Equipment Operator - Greenstone Gold Mines - Camp Based Role

Greenstone Gold Mines LP, a joint venture operated by Equinox Gold Corp, is hiring a Site Services Equipment Operator to support infrastructure operations at the Greenstone Mine in Geraldton, Ontario. The site, now producing since May 2024, will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, producing 400,000 ounces annually. The Equipment Operator will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, assisting with construction tasks, and supporting mine and plant operations using mobile equipment. This position includes camp accommodations and scheduled company transportation.

Responsibilities

The Site Services Equipment Operator will support site-wide operations by operating mobile equipment and performing preventative maintenance and construction-related tasks.

  • Support preventative maintenance and construction initiatives
  • Operate mobile equipment to assist mine and plant operations
  • Maintain organized equipment staging and inventory areas
  • Perform operational equipment checks and inspections
  • Load and unload supplies and materials using heavy equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally compliant work area
  • Document maintenance issues and communicate irregularities
  • Secure and transport parts, equipment, and accessories
  • Assist with various site facility operations as needed

Requirements

Candidates should have prior equipment operating experience in industrial or mining settings, strong safety focus, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prior industrial work experience required; mine site experience an asset
  • Experience operating equipment in mine or industrial settings
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read and follow instructions safely and accurately

Greenstone Gold Mines is a prominent gold mining operation located near Geraldton, Ontario. The project encompasses the development of the Greenstone Mine, which includes the Hardrock deposit, along with other properties in the region. In May 2024, Equinox Gold completed the acquisition of Orion's 40% interest, consolidating full ownership of the Greenstone Mine. The mine achieved its first gold pour on May 22, 2024, and reached commercial production in October 2024. With an initial mine life of nearly 15 years, Greenstone Mine is expected to produce over 400,000 ounces of gold annually during its first five years, contributing significantly to Canada's gold output.
