The Environmental Technician will support environmental compliance and monitoring programs at the Rainy River Mine.
- Conduct compliance sampling and monitoring for effluent, water quality, air quality, noise, and vegetation.
- Collect and analyze water flow and level data using stream gauging equipment.
- Coordinate hydrometric station maintenance.
- Document field observations, download environmental data, and maintain logs.
- Calibrate and maintain field instruments and monitoring equipment.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Process, pack, and ship environmental samples.
- Perform site inspections to ensure environmental compliance.
- Manage laboratory operations, including organizing supplies and maintaining safety protocols.
- Operate department equipment, including ATVs, boats, and snow machines.
- Support waste management, spill clean-ups, reclamation, and sediment control activities.
- Perform data entry in EQuIS and contribute to internal and external reports.
Requirements
Candidates must have relevant environmental field experience and a strong understanding of environmental regulations and procedures.
- Degree or diploma in environmental science, geology, or a related field.
- BSc in applied sciences preferred.
- 2+ years of environmental field experience in mining or industrial settings.
- Experience with water and effluent monitoring and sampling techniques.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and hike on uneven terrain.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools such as augers is an asset.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience using EQuIS preferred.
- Understanding of mining and milling processes and environmental impacts.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
