Dozer Operator - Fort Hills Oil Sands - Fly In/Out - 14x7 Rotations

NACG is hiring Finish Dozer Operators for the Fort Hills project in Fort McMurray, AB. This role involves operating dozers on a 14/7 work rotation, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Camp accommodations and flights to/from Edmonton or Calgary are provided. Overtime is offered after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week. This is a unionized position under IUOE Local 955.

Responsibilities

The Finish Dozer Operator will be responsible for operating dozers safely and efficiently while adhering to company standards.

  • Operate various sizes and models of dozers to complete assigned work
  • Read stakes and place grades as required
  • Follow all company, client, and legislated safety policies
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Review and follow safe work plans and hazard assessments
  • Conduct equipment walk-arounds, safety checks, and field level risk assessments
  • Report necessary repairs or maintenance needs
  • Report all incidents, near misses, or damage immediately

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience operating finish dozers and possess the necessary certifications.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Finish Dozer Operator on civil projects
  • Experience operating D3 to D8 dozers or larger
  • Experience working on muskeg/soft & wet ground
  • Experience building roads and corridors
  • Experience backfilling pipes/trenches
  • Experience sloping and spotting trucks
  • Mining industry experience preferred
  • Strong safety-first mindset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written)
  • Valid BSO or CSO Certification
  • Silica Awareness certification
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness certification
  • Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness certification
  • OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness certification
