Contour Drill Operator - Greenstone Gold Mines - Camp Position
Greenstone Gold Mines LP, owned by Equinox Gold Corp, is hiring a Contour Drill Operator for its newly operational open-pit Greenstone Mine in Geraldton, Ontario. Now producing as of May 2024, the mine will deliver 400,000 ounces of gold annually over an initial 14-year mine life. The Contour Drill Operator will be responsible for operating a D65Smartroc drill for precision blast hole drilling in compliance with safety and operational standards. The role includes company-provided transportation and camp accommodations.

The Contour Drill Operator will handle safe and effective blast hole drilling using a D65Smartroc unit, ensuring operational precision and safety compliance.
- Operate D65Smartroc drill safely and efficiently per company procedures
- Conduct field-level risk assessments prior to each task
- Refill fluids and replace tooling as needed
- Maintain clean equipment and work area
- Complete daily logbooks and production/safety reports
- Use two-way radio and horn signals for safe communication
- Drill boreholes ranging from 165mm to 229mm as per ground conditions
- Monitor and adjust drilling parameters (pull-down, hold-back, rotation, air pressure) to maintain quality and optimize performance
- Report discrepancies and mechanical issues promptly
Requirements
Qualified candidates must have contour drilling experience in a mining environment and be safety-focused, detail-oriented, and self-directed.
- 3+ years of contour drill operation experience at a mine site
- Experience with D65Smartroc drill preferred
- Heavy Equipment Operator training or equivalent required
- Ontario Surface Common Core is an asset
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions accurately
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Willing to adapt to repetitive tasks and inclusive team environments
