Drivers operate B train trailers hauling wood fibre products such as wood chips, sawdust, and hog fuel locally within the Interior of BC, covering major highways including Hwy 1 (Coquihalla), Hwy 5, and Hwy 97. This role offers competitive trip-rated pay of $33.50/hr (annual equivalent $76,500 to $104,500), a pension contribution of $3.23/hr, and full extended benefits including dental, life insurance, pharmaceutical, vision care, chiropractic and massage therapies, and Employee Assistance Programs. Responsibilities
The Class 1 Truck Driver is responsible for safe, compliant hauling of wood fibre products locally while maintaining professional standards and regulatory adherence.
- Secure and oversee cargo handling with proper equipment preparation and load securement.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and en route inspections of equipment ensuring safety and compliance.
- Adhere to legislation covering driver hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and load weights/dimensions.
- Maintain and verify all required paperwork, including bills of lading and electronic logs of hours and vehicle service.
- Operate truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones for communication with supervisors and other drivers.
- Maintain professional conduct with customers, co-workers, and the public.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications to ensure safe and effective operations:
- Valid Class 1 truck driver's license.
- Driver's abstract with no suspensions.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Minimum two job references.
- B train experience is an asset.
- Previous winter and mountain driving experience required.
- Positive attitude and professionalism.
