Horizon North, part of Dexterra Group (TSX:DXT), is seeking an experienced Baker to join the culinary team at Kobes Creek Lodge in Peace River, British Columbia. This position follows a 20 days on / 10 days off rotation in a world-class camp facility, with transportation provided to and from site. The Baker will prepare a variety of baked goods, pastries, and desserts to Horizon North's high standards, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to food safety and HACCP regulations. The Baker is responsible for producing high-quality baked goods and desserts in a busy camp kitchen environment. Duties include:
- Prepare and bake breads, pastries, cakes, pies, and desserts from scratch in large quantities.
- Maintain a fresh and well-stocked supply of baked goods throughout service periods.
- Create and follow standardized recipes and menus to ensure consistency and quality.
- Ensure food preparation meets client standards and accommodates dietary needs.
- Comply with all food hygiene, HACCP, and safety standards as per the Food Safety Act.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of baking equipment and work areas.
- Identify areas for improvement in kitchen efficiency and product quality.
- Assist and supervise junior staff as required.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Requirements
Applicants must possess strong baking skills and food safety knowledge with experience in high-volume environments. Requirements include:
- FoodSafe Level I required; SafeCheck or HACCP certification considered an asset.
- Culinary Program Graduate or Red Seal Certified Pastry Chef required.
- Minimum 5 years of baking experience in hotel, camp, or institutional settings.
- Proven ability to produce a wide variety of baked goods for large numbers of guests.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 45 pounds.
- Must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the mandatory WHMIS test.
