1st Cook - Resolute Bay Arctic Operations - 4 Weeks On / 4 Weeks Off - FIFO

ATCO Frontec is hiring a 1st Cook to support camp food services in Resolute Bay, Nunavut. The 1st Cook will assist the Chef with preparing high-quality meals, supervising kitchen staff, maintaining inventory, and ensuring sanitation compliance. This position includes camp accommodations, paid travel, and a structured 4-weeks-on / 4-weeks-off rotation. The wage is $26 per hour. The role is safety sensitive and requires pre-employment clearances including medical, drug testing, and a security check.

Responsibilities

The 1st Cook supports meal preparation and kitchen operations at the remote Resolute Bay camp, ensuring food quality and safety.

  • Assist Chef in managing food services and preparation
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served to high standards
  • Assist with inventory control and ordering supplies
  • Train kitchen workers in food safety and procedures
  • Assign kitchen duties and oversee performance
  • Inspect kitchen facilities for compliance
  • Clean equipment, utensils, and kitchen area
  • Provide Chef coverage when required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Candidates must have culinary experience and strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Red Seal Certification (preferred)
  • 5+ years' experience as a 1st Cook in hotel or restaurant settings
  • Advanced Food Safe Certificate (required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to supervise and train kitchen staff
  • Organized, efficient, and able to multitask under pressure
  • Problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Must pass pre-employment drug, medical, and criminal checks
  • Security Clearance Check required
