Dexterra Group is seeking experienced 1st Cooks to join its Northwestern Ontario remote camp operations. This senior culinary position plays a vital role in executing daily meal services and ensuring high-quality food preparation for large-scale camp operations. The 1st Cook oversees the preparation of feature proteins, manages kitchen operations, and ensures standards of quality, presentation, and food safety are consistently met. Offering full accommodations, meals, and paid travel from Thunder Bay or Winnipeg, this rotational role provides stable employment, professional growth, and a competitive starting wage of $22.15 per hour.

The 1st Cook is responsible for the preparation and supervision of daily meals, ensuring top-quality service and adherence to health and safety standards in a busy remote camp kitchen.
- Prepare, cook, and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks following approved methods and quality standards.
- Manage preparation and service of feature proteins and other menu items.
- Coordinate and supervise kitchen staff during meal production and service.
- Ensure portion control and accurate serving on the food line.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety within all kitchen areas.
- Follow proper storage and rotation of food supplies to minimize waste.
- Assist with weekly inventory management and ordering of kitchen supplies.
- Ensure meals are prepared according to client schedules and within menu and budget guidelines.
Requirements
Qualified candidates should have strong culinary skills and leadership experience in large-scale food production, ideally within remote or camp settings.
- Previous professional cooking experience required.
- Current Food Safe certification mandatory.
- Red Seal certification or equivalent credentials considered an asset.
- Experience in camp or high-volume kitchen environments preferred.
- Supervisory experience and ability to lead a kitchen team.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and portion control standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding kitchen duties.
