North American Construction Group (NACG) is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators and Labourers for the Syncrude Mildred Lake Extension (MLX) project in the Fort McMurray area, Alberta. 14/7 work rotation, fly-in/fly-out transportation, and remote camp accommodations.
- 14 days on / 7 days off (including night shifts)
- Fly in/Fly out transportation from Edmonton and Calgary

The Syncrude Mildred Lake Extension (MLX) project aims to replace the bitumen supply for upgrading when the current North Mine nears depletion. The project consists of two mine sites: MLX West and MLX East.
MLX West resumed construction in 2021, with first oil expected in late 2025. The project will sustain Syncrude's production capacity and ensure continued growth.
Heavy Equipment Operators (Grader) - $51.29/hr
Grader operators will be expected to operate 16/24 Grader M and/or H series in reclamation work. They must be able to read grade stakes and operate with GPS systems to ensure accuracy.
Applicants must have at least 1 year of experience operating graders, with a preference for experience in reclamation work and GPS operation along with a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Labourers/Ground Workers - $36.17/hr
Labourers will be responsible for steam cleaning equipment as needed, seasonal snow removal around the shop and parking lots, operating forklifts to move parts and materials, and driving company vehicles to pick up parts.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in a labourer role, with a minimum of 1 year in mining. Candidates should be physically fit, able to lift 50 lbs, and work outdoors in various conditions.
A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required, along with certifications like CSTS 2020 or SCOT, WHMIS 2015, and Ground Disturbance Level 1.
Heavy Equipment Operators (Dozer) - $51.29/hr
Dozer operators will be tasked with operating various sizes of dozers (D6-D8 or larger) to complete assigned work. Operators must also read grade stakes and follow detailed instructions from supervisors to complete tasks.
Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience operating dozers, particularly in a mining and construction, with experience in working on muskeg or soft ground and a valid Class 5 Drivers License.
Candidates will undergo several pre employment tests, including a Breath Alcohol Test, Urine Drug Test, Fitness Assessment, Audiometric Testing, Vision Screening, and a Criminal Record Check.
