Newmont, a leading global gold mining company, is seeking temporary Surface Labourers to join its Surface Ops team at the Brucejack Mine in Northwestern British Columbia. Newmont, the world's leading gold mining company, is now accepting expressions of interest for temporary Surface Labourers to join the Surface Ops team at the Brucejack Mine in Northwestern British Columbia. The Surface Labourers will play a vital role in supporting the operation of the Brucejack Mine, with safety as the top priority. Responsibilities include waste rock removal, site cleanup, material handling, assisting tradespersons, and other general labour duties.

Successful candidates will contribute to maintaining a clean and safe work environment and may participate in additional training to support site-specific tasks.

Duties and responsibilities of mine labourers include,

  • Perform waste rock removal, stacking operations, and general laboring tasks
  • Conduct site clean-up, including garbage pick-up and general debris removal
  • Load, unload, and transport materials to designated work areas
  • Assist tradespersons, such as carpenters, with construction and site activities
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications using rakes and shovels
  • Assist in demolishing buildings and sorting, cleaning, and piling salvaged materials
  • Remove and dispose of rubble and debris using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Participate in site-specific training and other related duties

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, relevant general labour experience in an industrial or mining environment, and a valid Class 5 driver's license. Experience with light equipment operation, WHMIS certification, and TDG certification are considered assets.

Successful candidates will be physically fit, capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, able to work in varying weather conditions, and willing to work a 13/13 rotation in a remote camp location.
