About Red Chris Mine
The Red Chris Mine, located in the Golden Triangle of British Columbia, Canada, is a significant copper and gold mining operation. Owned 70% by Newmont Corporation and 30% by Imperial Metals, the mine is undergoing a transition from open-pit mining to a block cave underground mining operation. This transition aims to enhance production efficiency and extend the mine's lifespan.
The mine has substantial reserves, including an estimated 10 million ounces of gold and 2.7 million metric tons of copper in its underground portion alone. Recent exploration efforts, particularly in the East Ridge area, suggest a potential for even larger resource deposits, highlighting the mine's promising future growth and expansion.
