Responsibilities of the Light Equipment Operators include,

  • Operate light equipment such as bobcat, skid steer, crew truck, small excavators, and other light vehicles
  • Perform loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Assess loads and read load limit charts
  • Complete safe work tasks including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Field-Level Risk and Hazard Assessment (FLRHA)
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
  • Conduct pre- and post-operational checks, clean, lubricate, and refill equipment as necessary
  • Prepare the working area, adhere to job safety requirements, and keep the work site safe and free of hazards
  • Set up and inspect equipment prior to use, report safety concerns
  • Participate in site-specific training as required
  • Promote and adhere to the company's safety program
  • Attend daily safety meetings and inspections
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications for the Light Equipment Operators include,

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience as a light equipment operator or equivalent
  • Physically fit and able to perform physical labor
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, meet deadlines
  • Certification in WHMIS
  • Experience working in a remote mining camp site is an asset
  • First Aid/Mine Rescue Training is an asset
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions for extended periods
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods, up to 12 hours
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Ability to operate various light machinery safely and efficiently
  • Ability to work in a noisy, dusty environment for prolonged periods
  • Ability to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts
  • Willingness to work on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical screening
