Are you seeking well-paying remote camp jobs with long rotations and covered transportation? Horizon North, part of the Dexterra Group, is now hiring remote camp kitchen staff for a 20 days on and 10 days off rotation, with 10-12 hour workdays. Transportation is provided to the camp site from a pickup point in Edmonton.

- 1st Cooks - $21.00/hr
The First Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking all main meals as per requirements, ensuring all meals are prepared and served on time to the highest standards of Horizon North.
- Cook a variety of appetizing meals, including meats, seafood, soups, poultry, vegetables, and other food items
- Utilize various cooking methods such as deep-frying, pan-frying, broiling, baking, boiling, grilling, saut�ing, and steaming
- Ensure meals are prepared within the allocated food budget
- Maintain consistency in food delivery, including cooking, handling, storing, and labeling products according to FOODSAFE standards
- Perform duties in final food presentation, including plating and garnishing
- Operate commercial and non-commercial kitchen equipment
- Assist in menu planning, inventory counts, and grocery orders
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dining room and kitchen areas
Qualifications for the 1st Cooks include,
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the hospitality/food service industry
- Minimum 1 year prior experience as a Sous Chef in hotels, resorts, restaurants, and/or camps
- FoodSafe Level I required; SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Sysco, and Outlook
- Must obtain a minimum of 80% on the mandatory WHMIS test
- 2nd Cooks - $18.00/hr
The Second Cook is responsible for assisting in overall kitchen operations and maintenance, as well as cleaning and sanitizing designated kitchen areas, tools, equipment, pots, and dishes.
- Ensure consistent quality standards in food preparation and sanitation in the kitchen
- Prepare food items for sandwich making, salads, and other cold food items
- Check and control proper storage of food items to maintain product freshness
- Set up a full salad bar for lunch and supper
- Ensure effective utilization of food stocks
Qualifications for the 2nd Cooks include,
- Minimum 5 years' cooking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment
- FoodSafe Level I required; SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset
- Must obtain a minimum of 80% on the mandatory WHMIS test
- Bakers and Breakfast Cooks - $19.00/hr
The Baker/Breakfast Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast and baked goods to the highest standards of Horizon North.
- Prepare and bake goods from scratch
- Restock pastry shelves and maintain a fresh supply of baked goods
- Follow menus to ensure the quality of baked goods and desserts
- Ensure consistent quality standards in food preparation
- Supervise night shift employees, providing mentorship and training
Qualifications for the Bakers and Breakfast Cooks include,
- Interprovincial Red Seal Certification or culinary education leading to Red Seal
- FoodSafe Level I required; SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset
- Minimum 3 years' cooking and baking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment
- Prior supervisory experience
- Must obtain a minimum of 80% on the mandatory WHMIS test
