Fly in and fly out remote camp jobs within Alberta. NACG is currently seeking Ground Workers and Labourers to join their remote mining site team in the north Fort McMurray area for the Suncor Fort Hills Oil Sands mining operation. This is a unique opportunity to become part of one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. Competitive combined rate of up to $33.17/hour with room for growth and development within the company.

  • 14 days on / 7 days off rotational schedule
  • 11.5-hour paid workdays
  • Camp accommodations provided
  • Transportation: Flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary; bussing from Fort McMurray to site
  • Overtime provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week
  • Membership with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental benefits after 400 hours worked
  • Paid weekly
  • PPE provided, except for CSA certified steel-toed boots
  • Competitive pay rate up to $33.17/hour

Responsibilities for the ground workers include,

  • Steam cleaning equipment as required
  • Snow removal around shop and front parking lot (seasonal)
  • Operating fork trucks for moving parts and other items
  • Operating company vehicles to pick up parts and move items as requested
  • Ensuring compliance with all company, client, and legislated safety policies and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/hazard assessments prior to job commencement

General qualifications for the ground workers include,

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a laborer role
  • At least 1 year of previous mine experience
  • Experience with shoveling, raking, grade/laser work, managing pumps and dewatering, installing piping and backfill is an asset
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting 50 lbs
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work well with others
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Attentive with strong listening skills
  • High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education is an asset
  • Proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
