Job duties and responsibilities for the heavy equipment operators include,
- Proven experience in stripping overburden, stacking, stockpiling, and reclamation in active mine sites
- Road building, cut fills, staking, and understanding dirt conditions
- Sloping, grading, and operating GPS equipment
- Identification and mitigation of hazards using JSA and hazard analysis
- Safe and efficient operation of large mine-sized equipment
- Inspection and maintenance of equipment to ensure functionality and safety
- Operating in varied weather conditions and handling noise and vibrations
- Repetitive lifting up to 50lbs and potential for 12-hour workdays
Qualifications for the heavy equipment operators include,
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil or mining construction
- Experience with specific equipment models (D6-D10 dozers, 336, 349, 390 excavators, 14-16 H/M series graders)
- Required certifications: CSTS-09/OSSA Regional or BSO/CSO, Intermediate First Aid, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Level 2, Bear Awareness (in class)
- Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions
- Own CSA approved 6" lace-up steel-toed safety boots
- Valid photo ID and willingness to undergo alcohol, drug, and fit-to-work testing
- Comfort with remote accommodations and rotational schedules
