Brucejack Mine in Northwestern British Columbia is seeking temporary Surface Labourers for their Surface Ops team. Surface Labourers at Brucejack Mine will perform various duties with safety as the top priority. Responsibilities include:

  • Waste rock removal, stacking operations, and general laboring
  • Site clean-up, including garbage pick-up and general cleanup
  • Loading and unloading materials and moving them to designated work areas
  • Assisting tradespersons such as carpenters in construction and site activities
  • Leveling earth to fine grade specifications using rakes and shovels
  • Assisting in demolishing buildings, sorting, cleaning, and piling salvaged materials
  • Removing and disposing of rubble and other mine debris using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment
  • Participating in site-specific training
  • Performing other related duties to support the successful operation of the Brucejack Mine

Requirements for labourers include,

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Relevant general labor work experience in an industrial or mining environment preferred
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License preferred
  • Previous experience operating light equipment is an asset
  • Physically fit, able to lift 50lbs
  • Ability to follow all safe work practices
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work long shifts outside in variable mountain weather conditions
  • Certification in workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS) is an asset
  • TDG - transportation of dangerous goods certification is an asset
  • Ability to work at a remote location (camp) on a 14 days on/14 days off rotation
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
