The Snap Lake Diamond mine was a fly in and fly out based diamond mining operation located 220 km northeast of Yellowknife, NT. The mine was owned and operated by De Beers Canada, one of the world’s largest diamond producers. The mine was in operation from 2008 to 2015 and produced high-quality diamonds, including some of the world’s most valuable pink and yellow diamonds. The mine was considered to be a challenging operation due to its location and harsh climate conditions, but it was also known for its high environmental standards and innovative approach to sustainable mining practices. Today, the mine has been decommissioned and is in the process of being fully remediated and restored to its natural state.
