Nickel Plate Mine is a closed off gold mine owned by Barrick Gold Corp. It is located near Hedley, British Columbia. The Nickel Plate Mine was operated from 1987 to 1996.

The company has required the development and execution of various projects related to TSF stability, water management, short-term water treatment, and long-term water treatment.

Arthon Constructors Corp is looking for the following experienced workers and Heavy Equipment Operators for a project at the Nickel Plate Mine.

  • Rock truck driver
  • Excavator operator
  • Dozer operator
  • Labourer

The right candidates for the job are required to have experience in the heavy construction and/or mining projects. All candidates are expected to follow safety protocols and other operating guidelines.

This mining construction project at the Nickel Plate Mine is scheduled to run from now through November. All workers will be on 20-days on and 10-days off rotation working 12-hour shifts. Workers are also expected to work every other rotation on night shifts.

These positions are full-time positions starting as soon as possible. Salary is expected to be the range of $25-$34 per hour.

Overtime and accommodations along with a living out allowance (LOA) are provided.

Qualifications for Heavy Equipment Operators as follows.

  • Previous relevant experience as an equipment operator on a specific piece of equipment
  • Adaptable with strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Safety-minded

Assets include,

  • Certification as an equipment operator
  • Construction and/or mining background
  • First aid and/or other safety-related certifications

Your responsibilities as a Heavy Equipment Operator include,

Equipment Operation – Operate excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, loaders, graders, compaction equipment, and scrapers. Excavate, load and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials during construction and related activities. Clear brush and stumps prior to construction activities and build and maintain access and construction roads. Excavate rock, ore and other materials from open-pit mines, quarries, or construction pits. Move, load, and unload cargo Compact gravels and other aggregates.

Equipment Maintenance – Conduct pre-trip inspections before shift and report any issues found. Clean, lubricate, and refill equipment when not performed by an on-site mechanic or serviceperson.

Standard Corporate Responsibilities – Maintain the stability and reputation of the organization by complying with legal requirements. Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish the job results. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Be conversant with relevant sections of the Health & Safety Program. Understand WorkSafeBC acts and regulations, as well as the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in BC.
