Remote camp fly in and fly out pipeline jobs available for Drillers and Driller Helpers for remote site based pipeline projects in British Columbia and Alberta. For the past 30 years, Glacier Blasting and Shoring been providing cost effective solutions for blasting services to clients throughout Canada.

As a driller or driller helper, you will be reporting to the designated site foreman of the pipeline project and working alongside with a team of site crew and other blasting professionals.

Duties and responsibilities for drillers and driller helpers include following.

  • Promote, and lead by example, a work environment where the safety and health of all employees, subcontractors, and individuals on site is paramount
  • Consistent, and timely communication regarding any changes in your area of expertise to the Superintendent/Foreman.
  • Work with the project team to plan and schedule to maximize the potential of the project
  • Provides training to helpers, as required

Qualifications for Drillers as follows.

  • Experience operating one or more of these drills: Ranger 800, Atlas Copco T30R, Hoe Drill, Airtrack, DML in a safely and efficient manner
  • Experience operating a top hammer hydraulic drill (preferably Sandvik)
  • Basic computer skills and ability to communicate in English, oral and written
  • Be able to read and interpret the Blast plan and have experience completing drill logs
  • Experience laying out and loading/unloading magazines and holes
  • Ability to pass pre-access site medicals, and drug & alcohol screening (some projects may require further checks such as criminal background)
  • Previous construction industry knowledge and experience
  • Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Load/unload materials and equipment, as needed

Qualifications for Driller Helpers include the following.

  • Ability to pass pre-access site medicals, and drug & alcohol screening (some projects may require further checks such as criminal background)
  • Previous construction industry knowledge and experience
  • Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Load/unload materials and equipment, as needed

Working conditions of the pipeline projects as follows and subject to change.

  • Remote fly-in camp locations
  • Typical rotation is 3 weeks in and 1 week out
  • Full time work consists of 12-hour days
  • Field environment, working to deadlines, some high stress situations (e.g., meeting deadlines)
  • May be required to work outside of normal work hours to meet the needs of the project
  • Will be working with drills in a high dust and noise environment (PPE required) in all weather conditions
  • Frequent travel
  • On call for emergencies as needed
