Here are the latest fly in and fly out job vacancies at Horizon Oil Sands. Canadian Natural Resources Ltd is hiring immediately for the oil sands mining jobs mentioned below. All positions are based at Horizon Oil Sands in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

All oil and gas jobs mentioned below are eligible for relocation to Calgary or Edmonton. They are also eligible for company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out and Accommodations Program with charter flights from Calgary or Edmonton. Note that all job positions are on a rotation schedule such as 7 days on, 7 days off and 7 nights on, 7 nights off.

Rotating Equipment Specialist – The Rotating Equipment Specialist is a technologist in rotating equipment will ensure basic preventative maintenance tasks are completed and spare parts have been identified and ordered for the safe and reliable functioning of rotating equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for condition monitoring and troubleshooting for all equipment within your assigned value stream. The shift will be a 4 days on, 3 days off – 10 hour schedule (Monday or Tuesday start). Applicants must have over 5 years of related industry experience with Millwright Journeyman Inter-provincial Red Seal Certification. Mechanical Vibration Analyst (CMVA) Level 2 Certificate (or the ability to attain this certification within 2 years) is a must.

General Foreman – The General Foreman will be responsible for the day-to-day organization and direction of all Operations activities in order to meet or exceed all production goals in a safe, cost effective and environmentally sound manner. ABSA requires this Shift Engineer position to be a 1st class power engineer. This position offers a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation with 12 hour shifts. Applicants must have over 5 years of related industry experience with Millwright Journeyman Inter-provincial Red Seal Certification. Mechanical Vibration Analyst (CMVA) Level 2 Certificate (or the ability to attain this certification within 2 years) is a must.

Heavy Equipment Technician – Heavy Equipment Technicians are integral members of the mining team and directly support mine maintenance goals and objectives. In this role, you will collaborate with and work alongside field and shop maintenance crews to ensure that all heavy equipment is optimized and maintained. You will utilize your heavy duty mechanical experience to focus on the maintenance requirements for designated heavy equipment including P&H 4100 Boss Cable Shovels, O&K RH400 Shovels, CAT 797B & 777D/F Haul Trucks, 16H/M, 24H Motor Graders, D11/D375/D155/D85 Dozers and Rubber Tire Dozers, 992 & 988 Loaders , and PC1800 Backhoes. All applicants must have 5+ years of related industry experience with Grade 12 or GED and Heavy Equipment Technician Journeyman Certificate in Alberta and/or an Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate. Also a valid Class 5 Driver’s license is a must.

Supervisor, Geotechnical Instrumentation and Construction Monitoring – Your responsibilities as the Supervisor includes but not limited to Reporting to the Lead Geotechnical Engineer, Operations Support, the Supervisor, Geotechnical Instrumentation and Construction Monitoring will be responsible for supervising a team of Construction and Instrumentation Monitors as well as working with a Geotechnical Engineering design team, Mid-Range and Short range Mine Planning and Mine Operations teams to ensure the earth structures are constructed to the design specifications. You will also be responsible for managing and coordinating Geotechnical drilling programs. Successful candidates must have a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent programs and Registration or eligibility for registration with ASET is desirable. 5 years of related industry experience in construction monitoring and supervision of earth dams, preferably in Oil Sand tailings dams is a must.

Lead Engineer, Geotechnical – Your responsibilities include but not limited to Reporting to the Manager, Mine Geotechnical and Geology, the Lead Engineer, Geotechnical Mine Operations Support will be responsible for management of Canadian Natural’s Dam Safety Management Framework as well as working with the Geotechnical Engineering, Construction and instrumentation monitoring supervisors, Mine Planning and Mine Operations teams to provide engineering support and ensure all of the earth structures are built in accordance to the design specifications. Successful candidates must have a Bachelors in Science Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA is required. A typically minimum of 10 years’ of Experience in Geotechnical Engineering design, analyses, report writing, project management, field investigations, earthworks construction and monitoring, supervision of earth construction activities required.
