The Lac Des Iles mine is consist of both an open-pit and underground mining operations located in Northern Ontario. It is one of the largest underground mines in Canada. The mine is located 85km from Thunder Bay in Ontario, Canada. The Lac Des Iles mine made of Roby zone and the offset zone and extends over 86.4km² of mineral claims and leases.
The Lac Des Iles mine was previously owned and operated by North American Palladium. It was acquired by Impala Platinum in 2019.
Most importantly, the mine life of The Lac Des Iles mine was extended until 2027 with average underground production of 12,000 tons per day (tpd) and 40.9 million tons (Mt) of underground and surface reserves.
